ensemble has in Canada traditionally been associated with Salvation Army bands, but in the last 20 years, a lot of new community bands and university bands have been set up with this unique instrumentation.

Summer Camp 2010

24 children will be attending this years summer camp from July 5th to 9th.

The canoe is in the sand ready to be decorated as a Viking ship.

Many things has been bought or found hidden places in the attic so that the children can make their own Viking costume.

Songs about Vikings have been written, which the children are going to sing for their parents and grandparents on Friday afternoon.

And a large group of volunteers is lined up to help with preparing snacks, making crafts and having fun with the children.

We look forward to a great and warm week.

Sankt Hans Fest

On Sankt Hans Eve we celebrate Midsummer - Summer Solstice.

On Sankt Hans Eve the powers of nature are believed to be extra strong.

On Sankt Hans Eve the nativity of John the Baptist is celebrated.

In our Danish Lutheran Church we have a festive evening on Sunday June 20th at 6.30 pm, where we celebrate Sankt Hans. We will start with evensong in the church, during the service special activities are planned for the children.

After the evensong everyone are invited outside (weather permitting, remember to bring your own lawn chair) in our lovely park. Here we continue with a traditional Sankt Hans program complete with songs, bonfire and strawberries and ice cream.

Around 8 pm we will make the draw for the Summer Lottery.

Come and join us for a fun, entertaining (and perhaps even prize winning!) evening.

Pentecost Sunday - Pinsedag

Pentecost Sunday - Pinsedag - is the day when we in the church celebrate the Holy Spirit. Pentecost Sunday is for Christian as important as Christmas and Easter. So come and celebrate with us.

The symbol of the Holy Spirit is the fire and the dove. On this Sunday both children and adults will hear about how the Holy Spirit can move us. The children will be putting doves on the baptism font and afterwards sending the doves to heaven on balloons.

The family church service starts at 10.30 am this Sunday (May 23rd). We will be singing the traditional Pentecost Sunday hymns as well as other familiar hymns. The whole service will be in English.

So invite family and friends to church during this long Victoria day weekend, and let your spirit be filled with joy.
